The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Catholic place of worship located in the Bicchio district of Viareggio, seat of the homonymous parish.
History
The Bicchio district was a rural location crossed by the Via Aurelia, subject to rapid urban development, whose inhabitants wanted to build the church in 1950. The works ended in 1953, although the church had already been officially inaugurated on 8 September 1952 In 1969 it was elevated to the rank of parish. Between 1990 and 1995 the roof was redone and in 2017 the electrical system.
Description
The building has a single hall, without decorations. The gabled facade, covered in plaster, has gray mortar reliefs and is concluded by a small bell gable, which recalls the configuration of small Central European rural churches, revised in a postmodern style.
